Dark Matter
This page currently uses the filled capsule icon as a temporary visual until dedicated fluid renders are available.

Dark Matter is one of Ascendant Technology's heaviest late-game fluids. It is expensive to manufacture, flexible in how you source it, and tied to some of the add-on's most advanced processing steps.
Unlike Liquified Aetherium, Dark Matter feels less like a precision catalyst and more like a high-end industrial reagent.
At a glance
| Topic | Details |
|---|---|
| Produced in | Liquifier |
| Main consumers | Catalyst Weaver, Singularity Fabricator |
| Typical inputs | Ancient Debris, Void Essence, Obsidian, Stabilized Obsidian Dust |
| Bulk route | Compressed Obsidian tiers |
| Main identity | Late-game liquid for deep refinement and singularity-grade processing |
How to make Dark Matter
Dark Matter is produced in the Liquifier, and it has several different input routes.
| Input | Output |
|---|---|
| 2 Ancient Debris | 1000 mB Dark Matter |
| 3 Void Essence | 750 mB Dark Matter |
| 2 Obsidian | 500 mB Dark Matter |
| 4 Stabilized Obsidian Dust | 1000 mB Dark Matter |
| Compressed Obsidian tiers | large bulk Dark Matter outputs |
This variety is important: Dark Matter is not tied to one single farm route. You can lean into Nether materials, End-adjacent residue work, or bulk compression depending on how your factory is set up.
What Dark Matter is used for
Catalyst Weaver refinement
Dark Matter is part of two notable native Catalyst Weaver recipes.
- Aetherium Shard + Amethyst Shard + 800 mB Dark Matter → Refined Aetherium Shard
- Glass Bottle + Crushed Endstone + 100 mB Dark Matter → Void Essence
That gives Dark Matter an important role in both shard upgrading and void-oriented material loops.
Singularity Fabricator runtime
The Singularity Fabricator is built around Dark Matter as its default working fluid.
In other words, Dark Matter is not just a recipe ingredient here — it is part of the machine's core operating identity.
Capsule logistics
Dark Matter is also available in capsule form, including larger storage steps and an infinite variant.
Practical notes
- Dark Matter is one of the best examples of Ascendant's late-game philosophy: multiple expensive sources feeding a small set of very powerful systems.
- If you are already making Stabilized Obsidian Dust, turning part of that line into Dark Matter can be a clean factory loop.
- If you need very large amounts, the compressed obsidian route is the real bulk-production path.
